Woodland Cree First Nation Letter

To whom it may concern:

I am a speech/language assistant at the Headstart Building in our community.

We took the children to the Teddy Bear Picnic in September at the Health Centre.

I have a non-verbal child that I work with – when I took the bubbles out of the bag her eyes went really big. I (have) never seen this child so happy and excited to see the bubbles. I handed it to her and asked her if she wanted me to open it for her.

She nodded yes! These bubbles that she blew out, I was totally surprised because for the very first time she spoke, “oh look at the bubbles” – I honestly had tears in my eyes and my heart was melting she spoke.

I wanted to reach out and Thank the First Nations Consortium for putting the bubbles inside all the bags for the children, you made my child so happy and carefree, and she speaks more often now!

Thank you,

For making my child so very happy

We helped bridge that connection in the community so everyone involved could be recognized and celebrated.
