The Government of Alberta subsidizes housing to ensure Albertans have housing options they can afford that meet their needs.

The Rent Supplement Program provides a subsidy to help make rental accommodation more affordable for individuals and families.

Alberta Health Services – Free Food Alberta Directory
Helping to connect you with emergency food programs including food banks, food hampers, and free meals.
Call 211 to find information on eligibility and how to apply for federal and provincial income benefit programs to help households afford to buy the food they need.

Financial
Alberta Works / Income Support – 1-877-644-9992
Income Support provides financial benefits to individuals and families who do not have the resources to meet their basic needs, like food, clothing and shelter.
Income Support works in coordination with Employment and Training Services, Health Benefits and Child Support Services to ensure individuals have the tools, resources and community supports they need. Individuals have their situation assessed to identify the appropriate initial support services and employment planning required to assist the applicant to reach his or her potential for self-sufficiency.
Alberta Emergency Financial Assistance Program – 1-877-644-9992
If you are facing an unexpected emergency, you can apply for emergency financial assistance through the Emergency Needs Allowance program.
You can get help when:
- a situation is caused by unforeseeable circumstances beyond your control, and
- it presents a severe health risk, and
- you cannot access other resources or wait until your next pay-cheque or Income Support benefit cheque.

Indian Residential Schools Resolution Health Support Program – 1-888-495-6588
All Survivors of Indian Residential Schools, regardless of Indigenous status or place of residence within Canada, are eligible to receive services from the Resolution Health Support Program.
It provides cultural and emotional support, and mental health counselling services to Survivors of Indian Residential Schools and the families of former students.
In recognition of the intergenerational impacts that the Indian Residential School system had on families, Resolution Health Support Program services are also available to family members of former students of Indian Residential Schools.
Family members include:
- spouse or partner
- those raised by, or raised in the household of, an Indian Residential School Survivor
- any relative who has experienced the effects of intergenerational trauma associated with a family member’s time at an Indian Residential School

Federal Indian Day Schools health support services – 1-888-495-6588
Elders and traditional healers provide cultural supports through local Indigenous organizations to assist clients on their healing journeys. Specific services are determined by the needs of the individuals and may include dialogue, ceremonies, prayers, Elder services or traditional healing.

Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Health support services –
Survivors, family members and those affected by the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls are able to access mental health counselling, emotional support, community-based cultural support services and some assistance with transportation costs.

The Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation is passionate about encouraging youth to pursue and complete their educational goals. The main focus of this sector is on educational activities that support and encourage youth to pursue and complete their education with the goal of developing future leaders for our communities. Though educational support for Indigenous is mainly provided by the Canadian Federal Government and/or Chief & Council, the Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation can provide limited assistance under unique circumstances.

Disable the Difference offers two free virtual programs for youth with disabilities; the Two of a Kind Recreational Buddy Program, and an Academic Tutoring Program.

Indigenous Support Line – 1-844-944-4744
The Indigenous Support Line is available in North, Central and South Zones by calling 1-844-944-4744 or 811 between noon (12 PM) to 8 PM Monday to Friday.
This confidential telephone service helps First Nations (Status and Non-Status), Métis and Inuit peoples and their families and service providers navigate the healthcare system. The Line provides culturally safe supportive listening, connections to health resources, Indigenous cultural supports, patient concerns and help with addiction / mental health concerns.

The Office of the Alberta Health Advocates strives to empower Albertans to be effective advocates in their own health and health care. It provides support and advocates for a health care system that is responsive and accountable to the people being served.

Mental Health Help Line – 1-877-303-2642
The Alberta Health Services Mental Health Help Line is a 24 hour, 7 day a week, 365 days a year, confidential service that provides support, information and referrals to Albertans experiencing mental health concerns.
The line is staffed by a multidisciplinary team comprised of nurses, psychiatric nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and psychologists.
