Teepee Summit Travel Supports

First Nations Health Consortium has received confirmation that Jordan’s Principle will fund transportation for travel to the 2024 Youth Teepee Summit for eligible First Nations participants and groups who are traveling from outside Edmonton and St. Albert. Please note: this funding is made available through Jordan’s Principle – Indigenous Services Canada. 

Expenses must be paid up front for accommodations, meals and gas. Reimbursement will take place with all receipts required.

Travel expenses include a driver/family member(s) with the child(ren). Children must register at the event each day and a Jordan’s Principle consent form must be filled out for each child/family. Consent forms will be available at an FNHC information table at the event.

If travel is by bus or van from a community with multiple (more then 4) eligible persons from a community, travel is included plus driver with double occupancy for accommodations and meals per each person that registers each day.

 

Approved Jordan’s Principle reimbursable travel expenses for 2024 Youth Teepee Summit:

Mileage: .50 cents a km.

Accommodations: Maximum reimbursable is $150.00 per night up to 4 nights. This includes accommodations enroute to Edmonton if home community is 1,000 km or further.

Private accommodation: $40 per day per family for those travelling from outside the 80 km range.

Meals (per day):
Breakfast – $17.15
Lunch – $18.05
Dinner – $45.95


Eligibility is the same for other Jordan’s Principle supports:

A child under the age of majority (18 in Alberta) in their province or territory of residence can access Jordan’s Principle, if they permanently reside in Canada and if the child meets one of the following criteria:

  • – is registered or eligible to be registered under the Indian Act;
  • – has one parent or guardian who is registered or eligible to be
           registered under the Indian Act;
  • – is recognized by their Nation for the purposes of Jordan’s Principle;
  • – is ordinarily resident on-reserve.
