First Nations Emergency Supports

In emergency situations, First Nations and Inuit families and community members are encouraged to reach out to your Nation representatives first for the latest information updates and to access specific supports and services available to your community.

The Alberta government also has emergency support services available for everyone in the province.

First Nations Health Consortium can assist families with Jordan’s Principle applications for First Nations and Inuit child-specific needs in Alberta.

For all emergencies, please dial 9-1-1. 

 

Alberta Supports can help you access more than 30 programs and 120 services. 

All Alberta Support Center services are available online and by phone 1-877-644-9992.

Emergency Financial Assistance

Albertans in need of emergency financial assistance as they leave their community may contact the Income Support Emergency Contact Centre at 1-866-644-5135 or email [email protected].

Albertans who have been evacuated for 7 or more days may be eligible to receive a one-time payment of $1,250 for each adult and an additional $500 for each child under 18. More information on how to apply will be available soon.

Evacuee Information

If you are under an evacuation order, register online with the MyAlberta Evacuee Registration Website. It helps get services safely to Albertans that have been evacuated.

To stay up-to-date on all wildfire emergency alerts and orders across the province, visit the Alberta Emergency Alert Website.

Jordan's Principle Supports

Jordan’s Principle applications can support First Nations and Inuit child-specific needs not available through your Nation or a government emergency service. Our staff will assist you with the applications process, we’re here to help.

Please note Jordan’s Principle is not an emergency service and there is still a waiting period for decisions from Indigenous Services Canada. 

If you reside outside Alberta please apply to Jordan’s Principle in your home province. 

Some child-specific needs can include:

  • ♦  Baby formula
  • ♦  Medication not covered by NIHB
  • ♦  Personal care items (toiletries)
  • ♦  Diapers
  • ♦  Clothing
